Sunday School Philosophy
In order to have a proper understanding of where a church ministry is going and what it will produce there must be a "Philosophy of Ministry" statement and then there must be a "Following Through" on this statement. CCBC has developed the following ministry statement about Sunday School and we endeavor to faithfull carry out its demands.
We believe that Christ called the children to Himself in order that He might show them His love and teach them His truth (Matthew 19:13-15; Mark 10: 13-16; Luke 18:15-17).
1. Children are easy to be reach with the Gospel of Christ and teach the truths of God=s Word.
2. Children have a simple faith which is needed for salvation (Matthew 18:2-3).
3. Children have their whole lives ahead of them to live for God.
We believe that God has called the parents as the first line of communicating God=s truth to children.
1. Teach these words diligently to thy children (Deuteronomy 6:6,7).
2. Hear the instruction of thy father (Proverbs 1:8; 4:1).
3. Train up a child in the way he should go (Proverbs 22:6).
4. God intended the parents to be the greatest influence in the child=s life. That is why God gave children to them.
We believe that God has called the church to assist the parents in teaching God=s truth to children.
1. God has given the pastor to equip the saints for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-13; 2 Timothy 2:1,2).
2. God has given Sunday School teachers, Beginner and Junior Church teachers and Overcomers Club teachers to assist the pastor in carrying out the work of training children. The teacher must teach exactly as the pastor would in each classroom so there is a oneness in the church.
3. Teachers in children=s ministry are special people.
a. Teachers are fighting against all the evil influences a child has experienced during the week.
b. Teachers have only one hour out of 168 hours in the week to do the most important job in a child=s life. They have the job of teaching the marvelous grace and truth of Jesus Christ.
c. Teachers have the blessed privilege of seeing lives change for the glory of God and hearts come on fire for God.
4. Most parents are not coming to church. Therefore, for the church to receive their children and teach them God=s Word is a responsibility that must not be neglected.
Youth Ministry Philosophy
To have an effective youth ministry a church must develop a "Philosophy of Ministry for Teens." CCBC has established the following philosophy statement to help guide us through the maze of conflicts faced in the world today regarding the training of young people.
Carleton Community Baptist Church youth ministry exists to glorify God
(1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:17). The goal is to train young people in the doctrine of Christ (2 Timothy 2:2; 3:16, 17) and give them opportunities to serve Christ and others in the church and community (Ephesians 4:11-16). They must come to an understanding that all they are and can do is of Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives. They must realize that their parents, pastor and youth pastor are their best friends who seek to guide them in paths of biblical truth.
We will attempt to accomplish this through:
The preaching and teaching of our pulpit
Private and public Bible study and prayer
Courses on discipleship and Bible curriculums
Participation in programs of evangelism
Overcomers Club helpers
Summer camp
Memorial Weekend retreats
Sunday School
Participation in programs of ministry training
Mission trips
Medi-lodge nursing home ministry
Choir, special music
Young people must be taught the clear commandments of God's Word. The Bible says in
II Timothy 2:2, "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."
